Terms of Service

You must be at least 16 years old to use Skillpato. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to be responsible for activity under your account.

Skillpato is a job-readiness practice and learning tool: you practice questions, get feedback, read learn articles, earn XP and skill scores, compete on leaderboards, and discover remote job listings matched to your skills. Features may change, and we may add, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service.

You agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe others' rights while using the Service.
• Attempt to game, manipulate, or falsify skill scores, XP, or leaderboards.
• Scrape, overload, probe, or attack the Service, or bypass rate limits or security controls.
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code, except where allowed by law.
• Upload malicious code or content that is unlawful, hateful, or harassing.
• Resell or commercially exploit the Service without our permission.

You may submit content such as taxonomy suggestions (fields, categories, skills) or contact messages. You retain ownership of what you submit, but grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, display, and adapt it to operate and improve the Service. You are responsible for what you submit, and we may moderate, edit, or remove contributions.

Skillpato skill scores, confidence ratings, XP, and readiness indicators are practice estimates for self-improvement. They are not certifications, credentials, guarantees of ability, or guarantees of employment. Any decisions you or third parties make based on them are your own responsibility.

Job listings come from two sources: most are aggregated from third-party job-data providers, and some are posted directly by recruiters using Skillpato. In all cases Skillpato is not the employer, recruiter, staffing agency, or agent, and does not endorse, verify, or guarantee any listing, employer, salary figure, or that a role is accurate, current, or still open. We review recruiter-posted jobs before they appear, but that review is not a verification or endorsement.

Job matches and match scores are estimates based on your practice activity — they are not guarantees of a match, interview, offer, or employment. For aggregated listings, applying takes you to a third-party website whose own terms and privacy policies govern that visit. For recruiter-posted jobs, you apply in-app, which shares your contact details and resume with that recruiter (see the Privacy Policy). We do not charge you to view or apply to listings, and we are not a party to any hiring decision or arrangement between you and an employer.

If you use Skillpato as a recruiter, you may post jobs, receive applications, and — on eligible (paid) plans — search candidates who have opted in to being discoverable. You agree to use candidate information only to evaluate and contact people for genuine roles you are hiring for, and you must not: resell, publish, or share it; use it for advertising or unrelated outreach; scrape or bulk-export it; attempt to re-identify pseudonymous profiles; or contact anyone in violation of applicable law (including anti-spam and data-protection law such as Costa Rica's Ley 8968).

Contact details and resumes become visible to you only when a candidate applies to your job or accepts your invitation — that is their consent to be contacted by you, for that role. We log recruiter access to candidate profiles. Recruiter access, posting limits, and candidate search may depend on your plan and on verification, and we may suspend recruiter access for misuse. This is not the entire agreement governing high-volume or enterprise use; we may require a separate data-processing agreement.

On eligible (paid) plans you may also create skill assessments and send them to candidates by link. Candidates take an assessment only after signing in and consenting to share their responses and result with you. You may use those responses and results solely to evaluate a candidate for a genuine role, under the same restrictions above. Automated assessment scores are indicative signals only — not a certification, a verified proctored result, or a hiring decision — and you are responsible for how you use them, including compliance with applicable anti-discrimination and data-protection law.

Skillpato may offer paid subscriptions ("Pro"). Paid plans are not yet available; when they launch, billing will be handled by a third-party payment processor, and the applicable prices, billing cycle, renewal, and refund terms will be presented at checkout and incorporated into these Terms. Taxes may apply.

The Service, including its software, design, brand, and content we create, is owned by Skillpato and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and accuracy of content. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skillpato will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 100.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be subject to the courts located there, unless a mandatory law provides otherwise.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
